John Lennon
December 8 marks the 30th death anniversary of John Lennon, one of the most influential rock icon. He was born October 9, 1940 in Liverpool UK.
John Lennon was gunned down and killed in front of his New York apartment at 10:50 PM by Mark David Chapman while returning from a recording session. Later on, Mark David Chapman pleaded guilty to murder and he was sentenced to 20 years to life imprisonment.
A lot of fans are gathering at a memorial garden in Central Park, New York, opposite the apartment block where he was shot dead. A vigil will also be held in Liverpool at a monument dedicated to the singer where fans will light candles and sing his songs.
One of the most popular song of John Lennon is "Imagine" and it continues to be a hit even after his death.
Imagine Lyrics:
Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...
Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace…
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one

Forming a Band
Any advertisement can be as detailed or generic as you need it to be. You must have a clear idea as to who you want in your band, this is the most important factor, whether it be a bass player, singer or drummer etc. Ask yourself : What qualifications and experience are you looking for ? Does age matter ? Make a list of questions and keep it by your phone, then you can interview anyone who phones you straightaway. Questions you ask should be such that can get short responses or even just 'yes ' or 'no' answers. You can take notes faster that way. If someone seems a likely candidate take their phone number and tell them that you will call them when the interviews have finished, always try to get back to people within 2 to 4 weeks if possible. Look at your notes and decide who you want to call, organize a time suitable for everyone you want to call and most importantly make the meeting where you choose. This is a crucial part of establishing yourself as the originator of the band and on being the main influence of the direction you want the band to go in.
A word of caution though, it may not be a wise idea to invite them to your home at least until you know them a little better but it is of course your decision, bear in mind though that you are all strangers at the outset.
Take it slowly and informally on the first meeting. Make introductions, share experiences, set goals, discuss plans etc. Doing this will give you insight as to whether each person will be able to work together and gel well. People who think they know everything for example, will just create problems for the others. Be realistic but fair in your judgements, if someone is clearly not right for the band it is better to reject them immediately. otherwise in time they will damage or spoil the whole band. Your second meeting can be a "jam" session. At this time you will be able to gauge whether everyone will get on together or not but do not be too quick in deciding.
I remember auditioning for a band that I had known for some years and I always wanted to be part of it. I was so self conscious that I could not relax and everything seemed to go wrong. My experience that I had gained previously when performing solo did not help me either. I was sure that they would not want me but to my surprisBe, they did ! The second audition was no better but evenso they gave me yet another chance . On the third edition it was so different, our voices and music blended so well that I knew I would be in their band. I shared this story so that it may encourage you to give your new band some time to get used to each other and to become confident together. However, if you find that over a period of time nothing seems to work you may need to reconsider whether the band is right or not but of course, you alone can decide.
There is not much more to say. Once your band members are decided on, you are ready to begin. Share any original tunes with others and find out if anyone else has written material themselves. Be real and open for anything. If you know your own priorities from the beginning it will keep you focused through the good and bad times that you may encounter. Always remember : "Nothing ventured nothing gained"

How To Form A Band
Wolfgang Philippines
Wolfgang is a famous and legendary Filipino Rock Band who started playing at Weekend's Live and Kalye Bar in Makati. The band was formed in 1992. Their songs were very popular to the rock listeners. Now, the band is not just recognized here in the Philippines but also Worldwide like South East Asia- Hong Kong, Japan, USA and Canada and more. Wolfgang band was composed of four members. Basti Artadi as the Lead vocalist, Wolf Gemora on drums, Manuel Legarda on guitars and Mon Legaspi as the bassist but im sad that their original drummer, Wolf Gemora, was replaced by a new member named Francis Aquino because during that time i think Drummer Wolf was so busy and now Drummer Wolf Gemora has a new band named 3 headed dog based in California together with David Aguirre (former guitarist of Razorback) and Danny Gonzalez on bass.
Anyway here's one great and fresh song lyrics of the band-
Novus is Burning - Music and Lyrics by WOLFGANG
Everything in its good time
Keep your hate pent up inside
Revolution calling
Voice of changes dawning
Today your bloodstained sun will rise
Feel the hand
Of disarray
Grab a hold
And then it blows you away
You will not touch me
You would not want to
Come near me
And I will kill you
There is a war coming
Feel the hand
Of disarray
Grab a hold
And then it blows you away
This is a call to all
So brandish your arms
In glory we kill
So choose a weapon of war
Fight to the death
Earth and stars will collide
Under the heavens we sleep
With blood on our minds
There is a war coming
Pick up your fallen
Leave no man behind
Destroy all that confronts you
Kill what isn’t your kind
Mercy is weak
Battles wheels keep on turning
And Novus is burning
You will not touch me
You would not want to
Come near me
And I will kill you
There is a war coming
Beware you meek….hahaha
And Novus is burning

Rock Band Secrets That Will Help Your Band Book Gigs and Get Signed to a Record Deal
If you are like most bands, the thing you want now more than anything in the world is to get your band signed to a record label. However, the issue of financing can get in the way and make you want to quit. This article will give you some tips the rock bands use to get financing until they get signed.
Sadly, getting your band financed is harder today than it's ever been. Since the economy blows right now and banks are reluctant to lend money to people, getting credit is difficult. But, there are ways around this.
Bartering is a great way to book gigs. Remember, if you want to get signed, you'll need to have a list of gigs under your belt. What you do here is offer to play for a charitable event. The cool thing is you can even ask for a sponsor for this. This sponsor could lead to financing in the future. It's a long way around the credit issue, but it works. And, you'll be able to schedule some gigs without costing you a dime.
If your band has never actually sat down and wrote out what you need to get financed, here's a short list for you to follow. You'll need funds for:
· Manufacturing
· Distribution
· Consumption
· Touring
Obviously, once you get signed most of these out of pocket expenses are no longer up to you. But until you get signed, you'll be footing the bill for these expenses.
The good thing is, half of that list above is real easy to do and real cheap. For example, manufacturing would involve real production of CDs. However, you can distribute your music digitally these days which will be a lot cheaper than a CD. You can even sell your songs on Amazon, one by one.
Distribution is the same way. Years ago you had to actually make a physical CD or tape. However, now if your band has a blog, you can just post your songs on your blog for digital downloads. Again, this is real easy and real cheap to do.
However, if you plan on touring the costs can get pretty high, even if you just plan on staying local. So do what you can to use the bartering trick I mentioned earlier.
Those are some of the secrets rock bands use to get financing. Remember, if you want to your band to get signed, you'll need to play at lots of venues. And if you're just starting out, bartering is the way to go.

Dream On - Aerosmith
I love this song!
Dream On By: Aerosmith
Every time I look in the mirror
All these lines on my face getting clearer
The past is gone
It went by, like dusk to dawn
Isn't that the way
Everybody's got their dues in life to pay
Yeah, I know nobody knows
where it comes and where it goes
I know it's everybody's sin
You got to lose to know how to win
Half my life's
in books' written pages
Lived and learned from fools and
from sages
You know it's true
All the things come back to you
Sing with me, sing for the year
Sing for the laughter, sing for the tear
Sing with me now, if it's just for today
Maybe tomorrow, the good lord will take you away
Yeah, sing with me, sing for the year
sing for the laughter, sing for the tear
sing with me, if it's just for today
Maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you away
Dream On Dream On Dream On
Dream until your dream comes true
Dream On Dream On Dream On
Dream until your dream comes through
Dream On Dream On Dream On
Dream On Dream On
Dream On Dream On, Ahhhhhhhhhhh
Sing with me, sing for the year
sing for the laughter, sing for the tear
sing with me now, if it's just for today

Guitar Lessons For Beginners and What You Should Know
So you got yourself a guitar and you are ready to learn how to play it. Where do you start? What kind of lessons should you take? These are probably some of the questions you are asking yourself. Finding the right guitar lessons for beginners can be confusing because there is just so much material available nowadays. Of course one of the biggest factors will be what kind of money are you willing to spend on guitar lessons. As you have probably already discovered, there are a lot of free lessons on the internet. There are literally thousands of videos on YouTube that cover all different aspects of playing guitar. A lot of them are very good. The problem with the free lessons that are available is that if you are a complete beginner you really do not know what you should be learning first. As a beginner it is highly recommended that you use some sort of structured guitar lessons. Here is an overview of some of the different options for you.
Private instruction- Taking private lessons from a qualified guitar instructor is one of the most beneficial ways to learn guitar. However, this is a costly method. Private guitar lessons can cost anywhere from 20 to 40 dollars an hour. One lesson per week is the recommended frequency, so you can see that this can be expensive, but if money is not an issue this is a great way to go.
Another option that a lot of beginners will use is guitar instruction books. Before the advent of the internet this was one of the most common ways to learn guitar. Guitar books are very affordable but there are drawbacks to this method of learning. It is possible to pick up bad habits or techniques by working out of a book and some of these can be very hard to break later on. Guitar books that are targeted to certain aspects of guitar playing can be very useful once you have learned the basics of guitar.
A very popular method of taking guitar lessons for beginners is online guitar lesson membership websites. These sites usually charge a monthly fee to become a member, but the good ones are well worth it. They have numerous instructors covering all aspects of guitar playing and have lessons appropriate for beginners all the way to advanced players. Most of them have thousands of video lessons. A nice feature of of these sites is the community aspect of them. They have chat rooms and forums so you are able to talk to the instructors and other guitar students. This is a great way to keep you motivated and you do not have to worry if you do not understand a certain lesson. You will be able to get all your questions answered. These sites are very reasonably priced, but it is worth shopping around as they are all set up a little differently.
I hope this has helped in giving you a little direction on finding guitar lessons for beginners.

The Beatles Rock Band - Video Game Review
Author: Roberto Sedycias
The Beatles Rock Band is a game that was well anticipated by fans of the Beatles and by gamers alike. For anyone who enjoys playing rock band games, this game is a fun experience. Even if you never grew up listening to the Beatles music, you just might become a fan of their music when you hear it like this. An easy game with lots of history built in and fun facts about The Beatles and their band.
This game is not for the intense Rock Band player. It will not have you playing amazing guitar riffs or playing a solo drum piece, but it will give you hours of easy music play mixed in with music played by The Beatles.
For hard core fans of The Beatles, this game will provide a new outlet to enjoy the band and a fun way to explore the music and pay tribute to a well loved group. In the game itself, there are ways to unlock photos of The Beatles and unlock some brief history facts the information actually comes from Sir Paul himself. With an added bonus of released videos of The Beatles, it is a real treat to be rewarded with such fantastic rewards.
With the power to jump right into quick play on or offline, you can quickly enjoy a full track list of songs minus one that is due to be let out soon. The music play is not too hard so you can really enjoy the music and not stress out too much over what you are actually doing.
There is no customization to the characters like most gamers are used to. The Beatles are simply who they are and you cannot change anything about them. The characters change as they go from their early day`s music, to their later days and the changes are true with how the band members actually looked during those periods.
The stages that you get to play on are amazing. You can play in Shea stadium and Budokan during the early days and experience some easy songs from that era. The stages look realistic with screaming teenaged fans and patrolling police officers.
In the `realistic` option the crowd is pumped up so loud that you can barely hear the lyrics over the screams. But most players will not mind because it might make them feel like they are a part of the band in a strange sort of way.
There are variations to songs played repeatedly and all songs follow audio taken from the studio. The song `I am a Walrus` offers a magic mystery tour where the band members are in animal forms and the whole appearance is pretty strange but add to the make-up of the game.
This particular game is different from other Rock Band games because you can play up to three mics at once and anyone can sing vocals instead of one person at a selected time. The guitar and drum play is fairly easy, where more of the focus is the fact that you are playing a song from The Beatles.
Fans of this game will enjoy the music and the game play itself. Harmonix takes us from reality in a studio into a dream world with limitless possibilities. Whether you`re a diehard Beatles fan or trying it out for the first time, you will become a fan after some game play in The Beatles Rock Band.

Basic Guitar Lessons in Clearwater
The growing popularity of guitar as an instrument means that whatever place you hail from, it is not difficult to find guitar tutors. As far as guitar lessons in Clearwater are concerned, there is a problem of plenty. One has various options, ranging from private music schools to individual tutors. Each of these has their own set of advantages and disadvantages.
Brentwood Guitar instruction is a place where one can learn guitar lessons from an individual guitar tutor. Prices usually vary around $40 for a one hour class and $25 for a half an hour class. Students get a small discount if they enroll for a monthly course that includes one class of one hour every week. Such individual tutors are performers and composers themselves, thus giving the students some primary motivation to start with. Besides that, they always have stories and anecdotes about the career path serious guitar students are about to choose.
Even if students are learning guitar for mere fun or as a hobby, going to the individual tutors gives them a more personal attention and interaction time. There are music schools too in the nearby areas like Allegro Music academy and American Rock School. The advantage of schools lies in their planning, organization and course content. It is always more economical to go to a music school as they charge relatively lesser than individual tutors. Consequently, the disadvantage lies in the fact that personal attention and interaction time with the tutors who might be changing frequently, would be missing in the guitar classes.
You could find more teachers and schools offering guitar classes in Clearwater, apart from the ones listed above. However, at the end of the day it always comes down to how much you could afford to spend for a guitar class and how much you could pick up on your own. Individual tutors could always give you handy tips about making a career performing and composing and hence it is not just the classes you gain from. A guitar student should hence try taking demo classes to find out what suits him or her the best.

Beatles Tribute Bands - How They Are Keeping History Alive
The Beatles spirit, the most beloved rock band of all time, have given rise, to a myriad of tribute bands devoted to them internationally. Hailing from Liverpool, England in the 1960's, these legendary icons made up of Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, took the world by storm. With their unique sound and their mop-top hairdos, they were an act unlike any that anyone had ever seen before. Their impact on popular culture was unparalleled and they still have an indelible mark on the culture of today.
While the original band is no longer around, you can still get your Beatles fix by attending one of the many concerts performed by the multitude tribute bands they have spawned. There is even a music festival, called Abbey Road on the River, designed to feature these bands in all their duplicity of their idols. Some of these groups strive to replicate every last detail of the group, from their speech, to their clothes, to their hair, to their mannerisms while others remain in character throughout entire shows and are truly awesome to experience. As imitation is the sincerest form of strategy, some bands reenact the Beatles shtick to the last detail. Too factual here, need more poetry
Although these tribute bands differ in many ways, the share the common denominator of being appreciated and enjoyed by any baby boomer loving the classic rock of the Beatles. Ironically enough, these spin-off bands began forming even while the original band was still in existence. More than simply a cover group, these bands were, and still are, deeply devoted and dedicated to the music of their heroes.
Although the group disbanded in 1970, their legacy still lives on today. No matter what your age, everyone is familiar with the groundbreaking sound that these singers//musicians introduced. Fortunately, they have had such an impact that, even though they are no longer around, we can still hear their music today. In movies, television, and on the radio, we can still hear bits of classics like, "A Hard Day's Night" and "I Want To Hold Your Hand". Their spirit and sounds are also kept alive through the awesome tribute bands paying homage to them, making the Beatles still one of the most popular acts in the world today.

How to Hold Your Drumsticks
A lot of drummers start playing without ever thinking about how they hold the sticks. They jump straight into the fun stuff completely overlooking the most important thing of all - grip! At first everything is ok but as soon as they start to play more often and more challenging music things start to go wrong; tight muscles, fatigue, the inability to keep up with quicker tempos, aching elbows and wrists.
These are all symptoms of poor stick grip and poor technique.
If you have ever suffered from these ailments then you'll know what I'm talking about. It's a real pain in the backside and in the worst cases you have to stop playing completely.
That's the last thing that you want so read through this article and we'll get you on the right track. When you learn how to hold the sticks properly you will be more relaxed when you play, you will be able to play faster and with greater power. So let me explain the correct ways you can hold your drumsticks:
The Balance Point
No matter what grip you use the first thing you need to find is the balance point or fulcrum point on the stick. This is the sweet spot that gives you the greatest bounce and control. If you hold the stick too far back you have to work overtime to make it bounce because it just dies in the head and if you hold it too far forward you will struggle to even get it to hit the head because the weight of the stick is pulling in the opposite direction. Test different grip positions up and down the stick until you are happy you have found the point of least effort.
Matched Grip
The most common way of holding the stick today is the Matched Grip style. Most drummers find this is the most effective way to hold the sticks and to build their technique around. Matched grip is basically having both hands holding the sticks the same way - meaning both left and right hands are matched. Here are a few ways to hold the sticks with matched grip:
German Grip
The German grip is very common in rock drumming and corps drumming. It involves you holding your sticks at the fulcrum point (balance point) with your thumb and index finger and placing your other fingers lightly on the bottom of the stick. From their you place your sticks on the snare drum, palms facing down and try to make a 90 degree angle with them. When you find this angle, you will notice your elbows may stick out a little, which is normal.
French Grip
With The French Grip you hold the sticks the same as with the german grip but this time you place your sticks on the snare drum with the palms facing each other. The back of your thumbs will point up towards the ceiling which means that you can use your fingers for fast rolls and grooves. You can get a lot of speed with this technique but it comes at the expense of power.
American Grip
The American grip is a half way house between the German grip and the French grip. Instead of having your elbows out and your sticks at a 90 degree angle, relax a little, and let your arms fall. You will notice your sticks come in a little, cutting your angle down to 45 degrees or so. This is a kind of hybrid technique that allows you to get the best of the german wrist action and french finger technique.
Traditional Grip
Before matched grip became the drumming standard many players used the traditional grip. It is still very common in jazz drumming and corps drumming and you can see players like Virgil Donati, Steve Smith and Peter Erskine killing it with this technique. This grip was designed by drummers in army corps who had their snare drum resting on their hips. The angle of their snare drum made it hard for them to play with matched grip. Therefore, they created a new method of holding their hand underneath the stick. This has been more recently been name the traditional grip. To achieve this, you want to hold the left stick with your hand upside down, (or palms up). Find the balance point of the stick, and place it in the pocket of your thumb and index finger. Rest the stick on the last two fingers of your hand, (the ring and pinky fingers). Now you just have to simply rest your index and middle finger on the top of the stick. The right hand holds the stick with either a german, french or american grip.
Stick Grip Conclusion
No matter what style of music you play, grip comes before anything else. Learning the various grips and practicing the rudiments with them will help you to develop a solid foundation for your playing. In time you'll find which grip you like the most or you might find that you like to move in and out of different grips depending on the style or attitude of the music that you are called to play.

Guitar Music Books Versus Online Lessons
In a rock band, guitarist is probably the most glamorous artist. He can afford to run around, toss those hairs, act wild and still be in perfect rhythm with the rest of the band. It does not come easy though. You have to be a master at the craft of playing guitar to be able to perform on the stage. Your journey to mastering the art of playing guitar begins with the simple step of taking lessons or tutorials be it with guitar music books, DVDs, online courses, or private tutor.
In today's world when technology has made things much more accessible and easy, it is prudent to make good use of it. You can access good online course from any part of the world through internet. These courses contain both e-books and videos to help you become a good or even great guitarist.
There are a large number of theory books available in the market for learning guitar. These books are quite handy and useful in the sense that they are inexpensive and you can carry them wherever you want. Earlier generations learnt only through such books but with internet it is better to take up an online course.
You tend to get greater variety of courses online and you can literally go through the entire market before you choose the program you want to join. With books, you have limited options available, after all how many books can you buy and go through.
Biggest advantage of an online course is the availability of videos. You can learn to hold a guitar correctly and other such basics by seeing the video. You have the advantage of replaying the lessons again and again and there is no physical storage required of such stuff. Books will take up some space and maintenance is difficult.
Books do not give you feedback and you cannot ask questions of it but with an online course you can ask questions from the instructor.
Guitar music books are still useful but there are definitely better ways to try to learn guitar. Figure out for yourself what suits you the best.

Great Lyrics
Tenderfoot
Music and Lyrics by Razorback
Tender feet step lightly thru my head
Left over sleep still lying in my bed
You’re living in a dream
Too scared to cross the line
The frightened always tell you
Be careful when you shine
Overflowing, incomplete
Bite the hand or be discreet
Life is never easy when your tread on tender feet
Tired eyes look fondly on her face
Watch the years slowly fade from grace
The fire burns so slow beneath an aching breast
The weary always tell you it’s time to take your rest
Overflowing, incomplete
It’s the perfect stain on a dirty sheet
Life is never easy when your tread on tender feet
Silent heart grows weaker everyday
A stranger’s bed is where you long to lay
All the nameless, faceless
I heard a young girl weep
The lonely always tell you
Never let your roots run deep
When you tread on tender feet
Overflowing
Oh, incomplete i sade
Don’t bite the hand
Don’t bite the hand
Don’t bite the hand
Don’t bite the hand

Gibson Les Paul Standard Review - Are the Changes Worth It?
Along with the Fender Stratocaster, the Gibson Les Paul is synonymous with rock & roll and blues guitar. Though the shape and thick, chunky sound have stayed constant throughout the years, the particulars, from pickup selection to neck design, have been modified to reflect Gibson's continued desire to innovate.
In 2008, Gibson introduced a Gibson Les Paul Standard that contained more than its fair share of alterations, some welcome and some not. Let's take a look at these revisions.
Here's a summation on the changes Gibson implemented. The new Les Paul Standard now includes Strap Locks (Dunlop), chambered body, Grover Locking Tuners, TonePros bridge/tailpiece, Neutrick output jack, and a setup via Plek. If you're familiar with these guitars, you'll right away notice the lighter weight, because of the chambered body.
We didn't ascertain any lack in tone due to the chambered body, and played acoustically, the Les Paul Standard had a well-balanced, deep tone. If you've ever gigged with a Les Paul for any extended period of time, you'll prize the lighter weight.
Since I ordinarily substitute tune-o-matic style bridges with TonePros, the upgraded bridge and tailpiece are a welcome addition, as is the Plek setup, which resulted in a solid playing and sounding guitar right out of the box.
We did have to make a small truss rod adjustment, but for an instrument that was sent halfway across the country, that's regular procedure. For the record, though, this guitar was ready to take to a gig straight out of the box. Not bad.
The finish on the revised Standard is as superb as ever. We went over a Heritage Cherry Sunburst finish that had just a gorgeous flame. We found no defects in either finish or fit, and the fret dressing and setup was as good as we've ever seen from a production instrument. Gibson also opted to exclude the pickguard from this model, though you could easily install one if you miss it. The pickguard is included, however.
We were intrigued when we found that Gibson built this series using an asymmetrical neck profile; however, we have to say that we're glad they did. The profile sports a thicker bass side and a thinner treble side.
Think of it as the best of a 50's and 60's profile in one neck design. The fretwork and factory setup were the best we'd ever seen from an out-of-the-box Gibson.
It's hard for us not to think of a Les Paul without thinking of the sound of a Les Paul cranked up through a Marshall, so we ran the Gibson through a reissue Marshall JCM800 half-stack. We liked what we found, though you do need to know that the chambered body gives the guitar something of a ES-335 sound when cranked. Think old Clapton.
The Burstbucker pickups seemed to be a pretty nice fit, since they are aggressive and dark by nature. There are unquestionably some definitive Les Paul tones to be found here, though the chambered body/Burstbucker combination has its own unique flavor. To each his own. We liked them.
We have to say, though, that there were a couple of things we just didn't care for. Gibson chose to include Neutrik locking input jacks, for example. Some individuals love them, but we're not fans. Still, the Neutrik jacks are superior quality, so we appreciate that at least.
Same goes for the PCB mounted volume and tone pots. In fact, all pots, the pickups, the selector switch, and the jack are all connected to a main PCB board via pluggable connectors. While it's cool in a way, it could also greatly hinder switching a pot or swapping pickups. We were left rubbing our heads on this one.
Still, these concerns are minor. Overall, the new Gibson Les Paul Standard is a terrific guitar in many ways, and we sense the spirit of classic Les Pauls here. Gibson also now makes a "Les Paul Traditional" that might appeal to individuals who want a more conservative Les Paul. Obviously, Gibson has something for everyone in their Les Paul series.
If you are searching for the absolute cheapest price on a new or used Gibson Les Paul Standard, then you need to visit Ray's Guitar Shop, which offers the lowest prices on all new and used guitars. It doesn't matter if you're searching for a Fender Stratocaster, an Epiphone G-400, or a PRS McCarty, Ray's Guitar Shop has what you're looking for!

Jimi Hendrix - A Vibrant Artist
On November 27, 1942, the US saw the birth of an amazingly talented musician and artist in the persona of Jimi Hendrix. Born as Johnny Allen Hendrix, he had his name changed to James Marshall and eventually took the nickname "Jimmy" from his father, James Al Hendrix. His father recalls the small Jimmy using their broomstick as a guitar. This prompted him to give little Jimmy a ukulele. The boy's passion for playing guitar never dwindled since then.
Although he has no formal education in this field as he was not even able to write or read musical pieces, in just four years after starting his career, he was already recognized that time by his unique and moving style. With such expertise, he was able to render vibrant and creative rock music through distortion of sounds and feedback with a combination of fuzz and other styles in a fascinating way.
During the Woodstock Music and Art Fair Festival in 1969, people who witnessed him play a renegade rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner" in his own musical jive, may still smile until this moment whenever they look at the USA flag as they sing The American National Anthem.
Other than his unnerving music, he was also famous for his sense of fashion. He would always be spotted wearing medallions, scarves and rings, and, of course, his signature hairstyle.
Even in his untimely death in 1970 -- with some details still remaining a mystery -- his artistry did not die. This electric guitarist and popular 1960s icon even transcended this era as until now, his effects on the new generation is still revived every time they listen to his youthful and raving music, which has captured the kind of energy trapped in the young, and will continue to hold sway for more generations to come.

Pink Floyd - wish you were here Lyrics
So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We’re just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found? The same old fears.
Wish you were here.
blue skies from pain.
Wish you were here.
rock lyrics
Darkness Fell
- WOLFGANG -
And so she woke up from a dream
That was beautiful starry and so wild
It was all still clear in her eyes
And though her mind was foggy
And blank she wondered why
Her life couldn't be as lovely
it was time...
There was this king he had no castle or throne
But his horse was great and white
He rode alone and liked it that way
But when he met her he swore
He would never leave her side...
They rode across the land
Two lovers hand in hand
And no danger could come near
And when something made her cry
She'd look at him teary eyed
And he would make her feel better
Oh so much better so much better than before
And now this forest was their home
It was a night time
And the right time for love
In the dark
She placed her hand upon his chest
And all the rest just flowed
Makin' love down under an ancient far away night
It was so grand just holdin' someone's hand
And now safety came naturally
It was so clear that she would never
ever have to fear
Oh tell me a story of magic and spiralling ships
And stars in the night
Just whisper in my ears
Make it soft but make it clear
I want to hear every breath you say
He placed his hand upon her breast
But she woke up from the land
Tears falling in her hands
As she looked up askin' why
She laid back in her bed
Thoughts raising in her head
Why can't my life be beautiful she said
As she closed her eyes again
Just prayin' he'd return
But only Darkness Fell upon her...

Vodoo, Who do Lyrics
Vodoo who do?
Lyrics by By RAZORBACK (PHILIPPINES)
There’s something amidst in the world
Haven’t you guessed shapeshifter?
While you hold in to your war so dear
We’re growing fat, fat in your fear
You and your voodoo, hoodoo
Talking your voodoo, hoodoo
Soon we’ll be out to haunt you
You mensch have fallen out of grace
Don’t you know that we’re out to get you?
You and your voodoo, who do
I look inside you and I know you’re untrue
I’ve come to punish you for your taboo
I take any form and any gender
I am the seer of all the great pretenders
I am shapeshifter
I am shapeshifter
Soon we’ll be out to haunt you
You mensch have fallen out of grace
Don’t you know that we’re out to get you?
You and your voodoo, who do
Talk, talkin’, talkin’, voodoo, who do
Talk, talkin’, talkin’, voodoo, who do
Your runestones and your voodoo, who do?
With a bit of love we die a little bit
Mensch fools will never come to this
We take any form and any gender
We are the seers of all the great pretenders
We are shapeshifters
We are shapeshifters
Talk, talkin’, talkin’, voodoo, who do
Talk, talkin’, talkin’, voodoo, who do
Your runestones and your voodoo, who do?
Talk, talkin’, talkin’, voodoo, who do
Talk, talkin’, talkin’, voodoo, who do
Your runestones and your voodoo, who do?

Pink Floyd Was Instrumental In The Development Of Rock-n-Roll by Braden Aalders
One of the greatest bands in the history of modern music is Pink Floyd. Their unique sound and approach to music making has made them a living legend and has permanently marked their members as some of the most ingenious instrumentalists of all time.
Many bands have emulated the unique sound of Pink Floyd but few have actually attempted to cover any of their songs. Their sound is so distinctive that it is impossible to satisfactorily reproduce.
Sid Barrett
Originally called Tea Set, Sid Barrett initiated Pink Floyd's climb to fame. The band initially consisted of Sid Barrett on vocals and guitar, Roger Waters on bass, Bob Klose on guitar, Nick Mason on drums and wind instrument player Rick Wright.
The band's name was a spontaneous decision. They were playing an event at which there was another band named Tea Set. They quickly thought to combine the names of two successful blues musicians, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council, calling them The Pink Floyd Sound. It was not long until they shortened their name to its now unforgettable version.
Their rise to fame was a pretty standard one for most 1960's rock bands. With songs being written primarily by the band's vocalist, Sid Barrett, the band easily scored gigs at some of London's more prominent nightclubs.
In 1966 they were asked to contribute music to the soundtrack for the movie, "Tonite Let's Make Love in London". Their popularity as an underground band was steadily growing and by the time they released their debut album in 1967 they already had a substantial fan base in England.
Most critics consider "Piper at the Gates of Dawn" one of the greatest debut albums in history. Their popularity grew tremendously as they released their album in the United States and toured with Jimi Hendrix in the late 60's.
The stress of fame and his almost obsessive use of psychedelic drugs, quickly overwhelmed Sid Barrett. By January of 1968, the band added David Gilmour to the band to help with the responsibilities that Barrett's progressive breakdown was making it difficult for him to do.
The band made every attempt to maintain this arrangement but by April of the same year it was obvious that Barrett had deteriorated to the point that the rest of the band decided that it was not working.
Barrett went on to produce two moderately successful albums before he went into seclusion for the last 35 years of his life. At the age of 60, Sid Barrett passed away in 2006.
Roger Waters
With the loss of Sid Barrett, Pink Floyd was facing an internal crisis. He had always been the primary songwriter and vocalist. In the absence of clear leadership, the band began writing communal pieces, with each member contributing something.
This writing style was segmented and not well received especially well by critics, but it still allowed the group to perform well in sales. Their successive album was a collection of experimental works of the individuals compiled into a single album. "Meddle" is the first glimpse Pink Floyd gives the public of their trademark style and thematic records.
As the bands writing and recording progressed, Roger Waters gradually became the primary writer of the group. By the time they release "Dark Side of the Moon" in 1973, Waters had become the driving force behind Pink Floyd, despite the collaborative efforts of the band on most projects.
"Dark Side of the Moon" marked the beginning of three epic albums whose success is still unrivaled.
In 1975, the band released their musical farewell to Sid Barrett in what is arguably the greatest album ever made. "Wish You Were Here" centers around the theme of absence and loneliness.
"The Wall" was released in 1979 and was dominated by Water's writings. His fascination with WWII and the themes of loneliness and isolation that provide this album made it an instant success, catapulting them back to the top of the charts.
This period marked the greatest success for Pink Floyd. Their epically themed albums are amongst the highest earning records in history.
David Gilmour
In December of 1985, Roger Waters announced that he was leaving Pink Floyd, stating that the band had used up its creativity. He expected that to be the end of the band. When it wasn't, a bitter legal battle developed over the use of the name.
The suit was eventually settled out of court, and Gilmour and Mason retained the right to use the name "Pink Floyd" as a result.
David Gilmour, Nick Mason, and ultimately Richard Wright continued to write and record albums under the name Pink Floyd. Together they released "A Momentary Lapse of Reason".
While it was not their most successful album, "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" was their greatest. Many critics consider Momentary Lapse to be more of a solo project by Gilmour than a group effort.
The bands next two albums, "Delicate Sound of Thunder" and "The Division Bell", contained significantly more group contributions than their first. They also helped to reestablish Pink Floyd's reputation in the absence of Roger Waters.
Final Act
While the members of Pink Floyd have sporadically reunited to perform, they are commonly considered to be a thing of the past. However, their legion of followers is still a very real, ever-present entity.
A true Pink Floyd fan can argue with endless intensity about the superiority of Pink Floyd to all other bands in music history. The less devoted can at least acknowledge the intense impact that Pink Floyd had on the development of music, specifically Rock and Roll.

The Guitar Solo And Rock And Roll
Author: Victor Epand
The image of a lead electric guitarist rocking out on a solo is probably one of the most ubiquitous images associated with the rock and roll industry. Whether you associate rock guitar solos with the afros, fringe and political turmoil of Jimi Hendrix's age or the spandex, makeup and general debauchery of the 1980s, these musical masterpieces are undeniably part of the American rock and roll heritage. Of course, guitar solos can be and are used in any kind of music, and genres like jazz, swing and blues regularly make use of them. But there's nothing quite like the piercing notes from an electric guitar as it makes its presence known on the stage of a rock and roll concert.
Perhaps the reason that guitar solos are so often associated with rock music is the singularly dramatic effect of the performance. The electric guitar is amplified, sometimes to the point of threatening the audience's ear drums, and often played with a technique known as distortion. This technique makes the instrument's sounds fuller and adds harmonic overtones, making for an even more spectacular overall impression. And of course, the other essential component to a good rock and roll guitar solo is an enthusiastic performance. It's all very well for a guitarist to be insanely talented and able to induce incredible music from his instrument, but if he can also manage to thrash around on stage as though having an epileptic fit, so much the better.
As a general rule, the rock guitar solo is a relatively short and purely instrumental portion of a song. In the classic song form that alternates verses with the chorus, the solo often falls between the second chorus and third verse. The other common approach is to place the solo at the end of the song. These solos are usually extended and create a memorable finale to the melody. Songs like Guns N' Roses's "November Rain" and The Eagles's "Hotel California" are examples of the effectiveness of such wrap-up solos. Of course, "Hotel California" is also begun with a guitar solo, albeit a shorter one, so one might say that that particular song is bracketed by guitar solos.
Other famous guitar solos from the rock genre include those in Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven," Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" and Jimi Hendrix's "All Along the Watchtower." And let us not forget the song that Michael J. Fox memorably revamped in "Back to the Future," Chuck Berry's immortal "Johnny B. Goode."
It is worth mentioning that in many rock bands, two guitarists actually are actually responsible for the guitar solo(s). The lead guitarist is the one you notice, the one making the incredible music, but the rhythm guitarist is just as important, as he accompanies the lead with chords and riffs. Also occasionally heard are solos by bass guitarists, although these are less popular in rock music than in genres such as heavy metal, jazz, and punk. When they are used in rock music, bass solos are structured and performed in a similar fashion to that of a typical guitar solo, sometimes with the musical accompaniment from the verse or chorus section.

The Most Influential Band
Led Zeppelin is the most recognized and influential band the world has ever known. It is not only through the number of fans and record breaking ticket sales but also in their contribution to the music. Some of the bands which were influenced by Led Zeppelin are as follows: The White Stripes, Sheryl Crow, The Black Crowes , Extreme, Incubus, Guns & Roses, Stone Temple Pilots, Bon Jovi, Soundgarden, Creed, Ac/Dc, Van Halen,Tom Petty, Neil Young/Crazy Horse. These are the bands I am pretty sure was influenced by Led Zeppelin. Majority of the eighties rock group to be accurate are mostly have a Led Zeppelin influence.
Even pop artists of recent generation idolize and get their inspiration from Led Zeppelin. The tremendous charisma the band has is because their music has a mix of everything. Their songs were a blend of blues, pop, folk, reggae and many more. That is the main reason why most people relate to their music. It has no specific genre. If you want to compare their style of music, it's like America in a sense that it is the melting pot of different playing styles. Sharing those unique music captured the people's hearts.

Classic Rock History - What is Classic Rock?
Classic rock - the definition defies most, and yet, everyone knows a classic rock song when they hear one. What makes it classic exactly? Well, for starters, it should be an older song. Nineties rock tunes do not qualify. Generally, 70's, maybe a few 80's and 60's can qualify for the esteemed title of "classic rock."
Generally, classic rock history begins with artists that still occupy radio time today, most of whom still generate huge crowds and pack large venues. The Who, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane - all of these artists are included in the classic rock genre. But does every song ever recorded by them qualify? No. Just the ones we remember, in our heads and in our hearts.
Classic Rock History - Come on Baby Light My Fire
The Doors with Jim Morrison leading the pack came onto the scene in the late 60's, featuring dark themes (Riders on the Storm for one) along with cryptic song lyrics. Cementing them into the roots of rock and roll history was Jim Morrison's untimely death.
Revolver, the Beatles' thirteenth album released in America. A turning point for The Beatles because it represented styles from their original, earlier works as well as experimental stylings for their latter works. Revolver is often hailed as one of the best albums in classic rock history.
The Rolling Stones, with Mick Jagger still in the mix today, has given the world a bevy of classic rock songs. The album, Sticky Fingers, in particular, was released at a time when the band was experimenting and still struggling to sculpt its identity.
Who Are You?
It's hard to turn on the television set these days without hearing one or two classic rock songs. Whether they are starting a television series or used for a commercial, advertisers know that nostalgia sells, especially for the middle-aged demographic. The Who has released a number of (now) classic rock songs and one of them starts the program CSI, making it even more popular than ever.
Wish You Were Here
Pink Floyd, those crazy Englishmen, have sold millions of albums world-wide. But what puts them at the top of the heap of classic rock history? Longevity. That's what all of these bands and their songs that have stuck with us to modern day have in common. These songs are timeless. The album Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd may not have been their most popular album, but it does delve into some sticky mental issues that founding member Syd Barrett was having at the time.
Led Zeppelin - Enough Said
Led Zeppelin produced perhaps, the most agreed upon classic rock song ever: Stairway to Heaven. This song is comprised of several different and distinct "sections" that give a living, breathing feel to the music. This song is probably the single most requested song on American airwaves today. Composed by Jimmy Page with vocals executed by Robert Plant, this song is the anchor of all classic rock songs.
Classic rock is a genre well known and loved by people in their teens all the way into their later years. In it, we find comfort and excitement, a nostalgia that is timeless and one we firmly believe will never be duplicated.
