Nirvana’s Forgotten Tune to be released
A previously unheard Nirvana track will take pride of place in the 20th anniversary edition of the band’s last album In Utero.
It’s to be one of more than 70 numbers which will appear alongside unheard alternative mixes, demos and more.
High points include a brand-new mix of the original album, Curt Cobain’s handwritten lyrics, a four-page letter from producer Steve Albini to the band, discussing his plans for the project, and a newly-mastered recording of the band’s Live And Loud concert in Seattle in 1993.
Universal Music Group say: “In Utero was the sound of the most incredible yet conflicted band of the era at the peak of its powers, coming to terms with a generational spokesband mantle they’d never seen coming – and ultimately surmounting these struggles to make the record they needed to make.
“As Rolling Stone’s David Fricke said in his review at the time, ‘In Utero is a lot of things-brilliant, corrosive, enraged and thoughtful, most of them all at once. But more than anything, it’s a triumph of the will.’”
The 20th anniversary In Utero will appear in a number of formats on September 23.

Music: Nine Inch Nails – Copy Of A
Nine Inch Nails have released a new track, Copy Of A, from upcoming album Hesitation Marks. Hear it below.
Trent Reznor announced in February he was reactivating the band he split in 2009, then later admitted he’d been working on Hesitation Marks for much longer than that.
He’s said the new material is inspired by taking a new look at NIN’s 1994 classic The Downward Spiral. He recently recalled how David Bowie offered him “shamanish advice” when the art-rock icon had resolved his addiction issues while Reznor was stroll struggling with his own.
Hesitation Marks is released on September 2 while NIN play Reading and Leeds on the weekend of August 23-25.

Cream to Release Live Triple Vinyl Set for Record Store Day
Cream have become the latest classic rock act to announce that they will be celebrating Record Store Day on April 20. The famous supergroup will release a three-LP of ‘Live at the Royal Albert Hall’ in an extremely limited run of only 1,500 copies.
Originally released on CD and home video in October 2005, ‘Live at the Royal Albert Hall’ chronicles the band’s reunion concerts at the historic London venue on May 2, 3, 5, & 6, 2005. The shows were the first time Cream had performed together – with the exception of their 1993 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – since their 1968 farewell concert on Nov. 26, 1968, which also took place at the Royal Albert Hall.
Mastered at half-speed by noted mastered engineer Stan Ricker, the records were pressed, fittingly, onto cream-colored vinyl. The box set includes a book commemorating the historic reunion of Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker.
Also of note on the same Warner Bro. press release, the Stooges have contributed ‘No Fun’ to a split single with the Black Keys‘ 2002 version of the same song on the other side. The orange-and-red sunburst vinyl is limited to 7,500 copies.
Record Store Day was created in 2007 to celebrate independent record shops in an era of declining sales. Many artists release limited edition vinyl exclusives for the occasion. David Bowie and Bob Dylan also have products coming out on April 20. Check Record Store Day’s website for more information.

Song Premiere: Bad Brains, 'Into the Future'
Click to listen to Bad Brains' 'Into the Future'
It's been five years since Bad Brains' last release, Build a Nation,
but the pioneering hardcore band proves that it hasn't lost a step on
"Into the Future." The title track from their new album is a song about
the future, but it's connected to the group's past: roiling guitar
spills over a pounding beat while vocalist H.R. drawls out the lyrics
with sneering menace. "My vocalizing strengthens the impact of the
group's overall deliverance of the music, and the expression of the
church of music," the singer tells Rolling Stone. "The new
album wouldn't be an A-plus new album if it hadn't been for the earlier
music, which was equally as inspirational. And it gets better and
better."
The band took its time with Into the Future, due November 20th and produced by the four musicians: H.R., Dr. Know, Darryl Jenifer and Earl Hudson. "Sometimes we bicker and deliberate amongst ourselves, and we pick out, you know, little human qualities... but it's ultimately of no concern because we have a keen sense of awareness, can push our emotions aside and get to the nitty-gritty of the sound and perform – and that's what counts. To rise above all of that: that's what the Brains can do," says H.R.
