Rolling Stones Blow Through 12-Song Set in Paris

The Rolling Stones played their first show in five years yesterday, blowing through a 70-minute warm-up set for an crowd of 600 in the Paris club La Trabendo, according to multiple reports. The band made 350 tickets available for the show, at about $20 each.

The rockers played 12 songs spanning their career, including the classics "Tumbling Dice," "Midnight Rambler" and "Jumpin' Jack Flash" and the new song "Doom and Gloom," which comes from the band's new greatest his collection GRRR!, due November 13th.

The intimate gig was a test run of sorts for four much bigger shows to come: the Stones play a pair of dates November 25th and 29th at London's O2 Arena, and two more shows December 13th and 15th at the Prudential Center in Newark. The London shows sold out in just seven minutes. Tickets go on sale today at noon EST for the Newark shows.

Although the band hasn't yet announced any concerts beyond those four, guitarist Keith Richards recently told Rolling Stone, "We ain't doing all this for four gigs!"

The Rolling Stones' Paris set list:

"Route 66"
"It's Only Rock & Roll (But I Like It)"
"Shattered"
"When the Whip Comes Down"
"Champagne and Reefer"
"Doom and Gloom"
"Miss You"
"Start Me Up"
"Midnight Rambler"
"Tumbling Dice"
"Jumpin' Jack Flash"
"Brown Sugar"

Rolling Stones release new song

PARIS – A new song by the Rolling Stones, one of two included in their forthcoming “Grrr!” greatest hits album, will be released on Thursday, the group’s Universal record label said.

“Doom and Gloom”, recorded in Paris over the summer, will be broadcast by radio stations and available as a digital download via iTunes from Thursday morning, the label said on Wednesday.

“Grrr!” will be released on November 12 and will also include another new song, “One Last Shot”.

Both songs are the result of the band’s first recording in seven years. Their last album “A Bigger Bang” was released in 2005.

The Rolling Stones celebrated their 50th anniversary this year.

The new album will be available in several formats including CD and vinyl.

On November 5, a remastered version of “Charlie is My Darling”, the first documentary about the Rolling Stones, will be released. The documentary by Pete Whitehead was filmed on September 3 and 4, 1965, after the release of “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction”.

A poor quality 50-minute pirate version exists but the 65-minute official version has been painstakingly restored, Universal said.

Avril Lavigne And Chad Kroeger Hold Hands In Paris, Cuteness Ensues (PHOTO)

Avril Lavigne and Nickelback's Chad Kroeger are looking all kinds of très j'adorbz (yup, we totally just went there) while shopping together in Paris. And what better place is there to celebrate your love than the city of love, you guys?? Also, nothing spells out romance more than city streets filled with unlimited opportunities to stuff your face with croissant and pastries. (Just us?) Or even better, gross out onlookers by hand-feeding pastries to your partner. (Not that uh, we'd do that.)

The "Wish You Were Here" singer and her beau were snapped holding hands in Paris, but this isn't the first time the lovebirds have gone Parisian. The couple were snapped together back in May -- wayyy before anyone even knew they were dating and just thought they were BFFs in the recording studio working on Avril's new album. (And now that we think about it, of course they were together! Look again -- Chad was holding all the shopping bags -- classic sign of coupledom.) But now they're back, and they're officially engaged!

After all of this photographed Euro-trekking, we suppose Paris must be Avril and Chad's "place." Heidi and Spencer had Don Antonio's....and Chad and Avril have one of the most romantic, cultural, fashionable cities in the world. Different strokes, guys. And Chad, extra chivalry points to you for holding the bags!
