Rough seas will greet beachgoers in Palm Beach County

Beachgoers in Palm Beach County can expect heavy rip currents today, the National Weather Service reported.

The morning is starting off cool — low to mid-40s inland and mid- to upper-50s along the coast — because of a weak cold front that is pushing in from the north. It’s bringing drier air during the day.

Temperatures should reach into the 70s this afternoon.

The cold front will move through Tuesday night or Wednesday morning with a minimal chance of showers and little change from normal temperatures.

A “lingering northeast swell” is causing the higher surf and rip current conditions, according to the National Weather Service Miami station forecast. The approaching cold front will also cause building seas, so marine warnings likely will be renewed mid-week.
